Class Summary[]

The Ranger is one of the eight advanced character classes of Aion. The Ranger lives by the bow and is a naturally talented archer. However, the bow is not the only weapon for Rangers, for they are also masters of the sword and dagger and adept in using traps.

Play Style[]

Rangers need to make predictions for combat situations and adapt their tactical decisions to cope with rapidly changing circumstances. And they have a great diversity of ranged attacks in order to suit many battle situations.

Most of their skills are used to lock down enemies with what is known as a stun rotation, for example: Stun Shot (usually entagling shot is prefered for its range) - > Rupture Arrow  - > Swift Shot - > Arrow Strike -> Entangling Shot - > Arrow Deluge - > Auto Shot. This allows for great control of enemies. Oftentimes as a ranger the best defense is a flawless offense. The shot rotation varies as stun shot has a shorter range than Entangling Shot, but the idea is kept the same.

The most important part of being a ranger is knowing how to socket and enhance your items, as a primary ranged class, to down enemies as fast as possible. Critical hits do CONSIDERABLY more damage than a non-crit. Crits reach in upwards of 400 at level 8 with surprise attack, so here the main focus would be to gem crit and MP so that the ranger wouldn't be running out of MP every fight, abling them to prolong it for 3-4 mobs before having to rest. With the bow and arrow its optimal to be at 150+ crit by level 25. This would be ideal if you can get any higher pat yourself on the back. You may feel more comfortable with melee combat at lower levels, as the mobs die faster until you can get accustomed into ranger thoughts from scout thoughts of when will I die next...

Weapons[]

The ranger will have access to a variety of weapons that will provide hard damage from afar and decent damage at melee range.

Bow/Arrow[]

The main weapon of the ranger will be the Bow and Arrow. The majority of its skills will be based on this weapon.

Daggers/Swords[]

The secondary weapon of the ranger will be either double daggers or a one handed sword. They will have a secondary set of skills based on melee attacks that will allow rangers to fend off characters that get too close for comfort.

Traps[]

A third weapon of the ranger is their traps. These have the ability to poison, throw the enemy into the air, stun them, ensnare them and more. They require a special item for use called a Tripeed Seed/Fruit of Tripeed and affect the first enemy to come within a five meter radius of it. Traps may not seem like a major tool of the ranger, but in fact if used properly can greatly turn the tide of a battle.

  • User of a bow requires the purchase of arrows. Unlike weapons, arrows will have no additional affects, but are required in order to utilize skills. Arrows can be bought at any general goods merchant.
